DESCRIPTION:You must bring proof of property ownership with you: the Newsletter\, last property tax bill\, proof of ownership or utility bill\, etc.\n\n\nFirst load is free\, each additional will be $15.00 (a load is considered to be a pickup\, utility trailer or equivalent). \nYou may recycle your old running refrigerators & freezers through Great Lakes Energy for a rebate. Call 1-877-270-3519 to have them picked up at your door. \nACCEPTABLE ITEMS \nLimit of two major appliances – refrigerators and freezers must be tagged “Freon Free”. \nHousehold rubbish\, building materials (nothing over 6′)\, furniture\, mattresses\, chairs\, couches\, carpeting (cut to 6′ in length and tied)\, scrap metal\, etc. \nWe ask that if your are bringing building materials that are accepted\, please secure material in containers or bags for safety and faster unloading.  No loose materials. \nUNACCEPTABLE ITEMS \nHousehold garbage\, tires\, batteries\, hazardous chemicals\, paint\, oil\, explosives\, yard waste\, brush\, asphalt\, broken concrete\, glass\, burn barrels filled with trash\, hot tubs.  NO LOOSE MATERIALS. \nJust a reminder: Workers are volunteers\, so help with whatever you are able\, to make things move quickly.  Thank you.  This is a courtesy to the property owners and to help maintain our woods from debris\, your cooperation is appreciated.  \nYearly Recycle\nBear Lake Township also has 3 recycle bins located at the Community Center for homeowners.  Please observe the signs on what can and cannot be placed in the recycle bins.  Do not discard garbage on leave boxes etc on the ground if they do not fit in the bin.  Someone has to clean that up! SUMMARY:Tire Recycling Collection
DESCRIPTION:Bring us your tires! We’ve put in some overtime to make sure we can continue on the annual tire collection and recycling event that the former Kalkaska County Recycling Center hosted. \nWe’ve reserved two semi-trailers for the event and hope we can fill them both. There are a few stipulations though to make the event a success: \n\n\nFREE to Kalkaska County residents (proof of residency is required). \n\n\nREGISTRATION is recommended to help ensure a smooth traffic flow of the event: RSVP list will go live one month prior to the event. \n\n\nLimit of 10 tires per household. \n\n\nOnly regular car and truck tires will be accepted. \n\n\nNO semi-trailers or tractor tires. \n\n\nNO tires larger than 4 feet tall or 12 inches wide. \n\n\nVolunteer help to load tires will be greatly appreciated! \n\n\nThe event will take place at the former Recycling Center on Saturday\, June 28\, 2025 from 9am to 1pm.
